Factory equipment includes 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, a limited-slip differential, a retractable hardtop, power-adjustable and heated seats, air conditioning, and a Bose sound system. The only modification reported by the seller is a set of mud flaps. Chevrolet drew inspiration from their postwar "Advance Design" family of trucks when designing the SSR. Though it was based on the GMT360 mid-size truck platform, the SSR was entirely in a class of its own from a stylistic standpoint. Equipped with a folding metal convertible top and V8 power, the SSR was introduced for the 2003 model year and became a standard production model in 2004.
